As of now, there are 5 Custom ROMs for LG Stylo 3 Plus which are Lineage OS, Resurrection Remix, AOKP, AICP, and Incipient OS.
In this post, we’re going to install and test each of these to check out which one is a stable ROM and can be used as a daily driver.
Out of these, the most popular is the Lineage OS. The rest of the Custom ROMs are based on Lineage OS itself with added features and customizations.
Let’s check out how to install Lineage OS custom ROM on Stylo 3 Plus and what extra features we get as compared to LG stock ROM.
NOTE: Before moving further make sure that you’ve installed TWRP Custom Recovery on your Stylo 3 Plus. For Lineage OS, AICP & Resurrection Remix, 32-bit TWRP is required. However, for AOKP and Incipient OS, 64-bit TWRP needs to be installed.
How to Install Lineage OS Custom ROM on LG Stylo 3 Plus MetroPCS MP450 / T Mobile TP450
After CyanogenMod, Lineage OS is the most preferred custom ROM. It gives stock vanilla Android experience. It is lighter, faster and free from bloatware as compared to LG preloaded ROM.
LG Stylo 3 Plus is not in the official list of Lineage OS supported devices. As its an unofficial port, some of the features are not working. I found that NFC keeps on turning on and off on its own and doesn’t work. VoLTE doesn’t work as well.
If these features are a deal-breaker for you, Lineage OS cannot be your daily driver. But at least you can give it a try to get a feel of it.
We can divide the whole process into 3 steps for ease of understanding –
STEP 1: Creating a Backup in TWRP & Flashing Lineage OS 14.1 Custom ROM
Let’s start by downloading the necessary files needed for flashing.
1.Lineage OS Custom ROM zip File – Thanks to messi2050@xda for making Lineage OS custom ROM for Stylo 3 Plus. You can download the zip file from below link
2. Google Apps Package zip file for Android 7.1 – You can download this file from http://opengapps.org, by choosing “Platform” as ARM, Android Version As 7.1 & Variant would be as per your requirement. You can also download it from the below link. The below one is a very basic Google Apps (Pico) Package –
3. Magisk Root zip file & Magisk Manager apk file – The zip file should be flashed in TWRP & the apk file must be installed after booting into Lineage OS. The download links are as follows
Magisk.zip – DOWNLOAD
Magisk Manager.apk – DOWNLOAD
You can save the above-downloaded files in your Phone’s internal storage or a Micro SD card.
We need to boot our phone in TWRP recovery for flashing the downloaded files.
To boot into recovery mode, Turn OFF the phone.
Now, Press the Volume Down + Power Key to boot the phone. Once the phone “vibrates”, release the power key and hold it again until you’re in recovery mode. Do not release the Volume Down key in the whole process.
In Recovery Mode, touch doesn’t work.
Move down from “No (Exit)” To “Yes” using Volume down key and confirm by press “Power” key.
Again move down to “Yes” and confirm with the “Power” button to enter TWRP.
Press the “Power” button once again to bypass the “Bootloader warning” as shown above.
Before flashing Lineage OS ROM, it’s better to take a backup of the current Stock ROM. This way we can easily revert back if something goes wrong.
Tap on “Backup”
Now “Select Storage” where you wish to save the backup file.
You can choose which files to include in your Backup. I’ve taken a complete backup
Swipe the bar towards to right to start the process.
Once done, hit the “Home” icon to get back to TWRP home page.
Before flashing a Custom ROM we should always Wipe Data, Cache & Dalvik Cache for the proper functioning of Custom ROM.
Tap “Wipe” and swipe the bar towards the right to Wipe cache.
Now again hit the “Home” icon to get back to TWRP main page.
Tap “Install” it would open the “sdcard” folder which is the phone’s internal storage.
If you saved the downloaded files in the Micro SD card you need to look for the files in the “sdcard1” folder.
Now click on “Lineage_sf340n-#6.zip” file as shown above
Swipe the bar towards the right to initiate the flashing process.
After successful installation, tap on “Home” icon and again click on “Install”
This time, click on the “open_gapps-arm-7.1-pico-20180414.zip” file to flash. This is the Google Apps Package.
Swipe bar towards the right to flash the gapps.zip file.
Again click on the “Home” icon for final installation, which is the “Magisk-v18.1.zip” file to get the phone rooted.
Once the installation is done, Tap on “Reboot System” to boot into Lineage OS.
Complete the setup process and land to Home Screen.

Thanks for posting this detailed list of ROMs. Sadly, I use G pay all the time. Maybe that’ll get fixed at some point. I hope that I can get to Android Pie with a future update.
