How to bypass secure startup on LG Stylo 5 Forgot Password, PIN

The secure startup option is found on LG phones running on Android 9 and below. It offers an added layer of security over the regular screen lock.

LG Stylo 5 was launched with Android 9 Pie and is now updated to Android 10. Even after the update, you’ll find the Secure startup option on the phone.

In this post, we are going to learn how to bypass the secure startup on LG Stylo 5 when locked out due to a forgotten knock code, PIN, Pattern, or Password.

Bypass Secure Startup LG Stylo 5, 5x, 5 plus – Forgot Pattern, PIN, Password – Locked Out

My LG Stylo 5 is stuck on the secure startup pattern lock screen.

I don’t remember the pattern. It gives 30 attempts to draw the correct pattern.

After 10 failed attempts, you need to restart the phone and try again.

On the final attempt, it shows a warning – “If you do not draw the correct pattern, your phone will be automatically factory data reset and all files will be erased”.

You do not have to wait until the 30 attempts, you can hard reset the phone using the volume down + power buttons via Recovery mode.

Let’s power off the phone to enter recovery mode.

On the phone is off, press the volume down + power keys. As soon as the “LG Stylo 5” logo appears, release only the power button and hold it again. Do not leave the volume down key.

Keep pressing both the buttons until you reach the “Factory Data Reset” page.

My Stylo 5 is now in the Recovery Mode.

Press the volume button to move from “No(Exit)” to “Yes”. Now click the power button once.

Again move down from “No” to “Yes” and press the power button to reset your device.

After a few minutes, you’ll land on the “Welcome” page.

Click the forward arrow to begin the setup.

Now, we need to connect our Stylo 5 to a Wi-Fi network.

The following page is “Copy apps & data”.

Hit “Don’t copy” to proceed further.

It brings me to the pattern lock verification screen.

To get past this screen, we either need the correct pattern or the previously synced Google account.

Enter your Google account credentials & follow the on-screen prompts to reach the Stylo 5 home screen.

In case you don’t remember the google account as well, follow the below method to bypass the FRP lock screen –

How to bypass Google on LG Stylo 5 – FRP unlock 2021 2022 Android 10 without computer

To bypass the Google account, we need to pull out the Stylo 5 keyboard.

Hit the blank space – “Email or Phone” to launch the keyboard.

This brings out a “Default keyboard” window on the screen. Hit “Settings” as shown above.

The following page is – “Manage Keyboards”. Select the first keyboard on this page i.e. “Gboard”.

On the Gboard settings page, touch the “3 dots” icon and choose “Help & Feedback”.

This will bring you to the “Support” page.

Pick the first article – “Delete or disable apps on Android”.

On the following screen click on the link – “Tap to go to Application settings” as shown above.

We are now on the “App Info” screen. Scroll down and select “Settings”.

Hit “Open” to launch the “Settings app”.

Now, tap “Fingerprints” and hit “Next”.

Now, we have reached the “Select Screen Lock” page.

Using this page, we can add a new Knock Code, Pattern, PIN, or Password. This new lock will replace the old secure startup pattern.

I’ve chosen the PIN option.

Hit “Next” on the “Secure-startup” page.

Let’s set up the PIN code 1234

You need to enter the PIN two times as shown above.

The screen lock is now changed. We have replaced the pattern lock with the PIN code 1234

Now, use the back button to reach the first page of the setup wizard.

Hit the forward button when you reach the “Welcome” screen.

Tap “Next” on the “Set Internet Connection” screen.

Choose “Don’t copy” on the “Copy apps & data” page.

It directly brought me to the “Google – Verify your account” page and skipped the “Verify PIN” screen. We need the screen lock PIN verification page to bypass the Google lock.

We need to hard reset the phone once again to restore that page.

Power off your Stylo 5 to enter recovery mode.

Press the volume down + power keys to turn on your phone.

As soon as the “LG Stylo 5” logo shows up release only the power button for a moment and hold it again. Do not leave the volume down button.

Now, keep pressing both the buttons to reach the “Factory data reset” page.

Now, go down from “No(Exit)” to “Yes” with the volume down button.

Press the power button to select “Yes”.

Again move down from “No(Exit)” to “Yes” and click the Power key to initiate the factory reset process.

After a few minutes, I’ve landed on the “Welcome” screen.

Click the forward button and connect your Stylo 5 to a Wi-Fi network.

Tap “Don’t copy” on the “Copy apps & data” page.

This time I get the “Verify PIN” option. Enter the PIN code we set up a few steps ago i.e. 1234

The PIN verification is successful. We have bypassed the Google lock.

Choose “Skip” on the Google account sign-in page.

Now, we have reached the Google services screen. Accept the Google services terms and conditions.

Finally, tick the “I agree” checkboxes on the “Legal Documents” page and click “DONE” to finish the setup wizard.

We have successfully landed on the LG Stylo 5 home screen thus bypassing the secure startup screen.
