LG Stylo 3 Plus USB Debugging, Developer Options & OEM Unlock – How to Enable

LG Stylo 3 Plus is one of the few LG android phones with an unlockable bootloader. With an unlocked bootloader, we can easily root our Stylo 3 plus, flash a custom recovery (TWRP) & install a Custom ROM.

However, in order to unlock the bootloader, we need to Enable USB Debugging & OEM Unlock. Both of these options are found within the “Developer Options”. Let’s check out how to do this with the help of the following screenshots.

How to Enable Developer Options & USB Debugging on LG Stylo 3 Plus MetroPCS MP450 & T Mobile TP450

“Developer Options” is meant for developers and is kept hidden since Android Lollipop 5.1

We can unhide it quite easily on our Stylo 3 Plus.

Open Settings and tap on the “General” Tab. Now scroll down towards the bottom of the screen.

Click on “About Phone” to open it as shown above.

In “About Phone”, we’ve to open “Software Info”

You would notice the second last option is “Build Number”

We’ve to tap on Build Number 7 times to Enable Developer Options.

Once done a pop-up would appear for a moment “You are now a developer!”.

Now go 2 steps back to the Main settings page.

This time you would notice above “About Phone” a new option is visible i.e “Developer Options”.

Tap on it to open.  Accept the warning an proceed by clicking “OK”

Now scroll down to “USB Debugging” and tap on it to turn it ON.

Similarly, we’ve to turn ON “Enable OEM Unlock” in order to unlock the LG Stylo 3 Plus Bootloader.

Now that we’ve Enabled USB Debugging and OEM unlock we’re ready to unlock the Stylo 3 Plus Bootloader.

  1. I am able to do all the above instructions but for some reason my pc still wont recognize my device. When I click the usb options tab it doesn’t matter what I choose the usb settings block will remain on charge only. I think I read somewhere that there was a part of the stylo that is set to remain locked> Help me please.

  2. I have a straight talk stylo 3 and can’t get the system to recognize any debugging apps, and therefore can’t run usb debugging. Help?
